Koh Lanta Island Muay Thai Boxing

Thai Boxing or Muay Thai is a martial art thousands of years old. Different from Western-style boxing it includes kicks and punches performed with elbows, knees and feet.

Thai Boxing uses a lot of different techniques, not all intended to hurt the opponent immediately, some are only used to keep him away or put him off balance before striking out with the next attack.

Thai Boxing competitions on Koh Lanta Island take place at least once a week, during the high season twice, on Tuesdays and Fridays. There are competitions on Koh Lanta Island, either at Phra-Ae Stadium or at Khlong Dao Stadium. These are real fights, sometimes with fighters coming from other provinces and they are a "must go" for the local male population on Koh Lanta Island.

Thai Boxing fight nights on Koh Lanta Island always start at 21:00 and the entrance fee is 600 - 1000 Baht.
