Watersports on Koh Lanta Island

The best conditions for surfing are from May until September, and ever October and November has some smaller waves. The reason Koh Lanta is a good place to learn to surf is because the waves are not too powerful and the beach has spots, where the waves are smaller, then as you progress you can try the larger sets at other spots of Khlong Dao Beach. Also there are no crowds of other surfers or swimmers, so you don't have to worry about getting in anyones way.
Stand Up Paddle boarding or Paddlesurfing is a great sport to learn and it is a great way to check out the island scenery. Depending on when you come, there may be some waves to learn to surf. Kite boarding has established itself as a very popular water activity and each year continues to grow in popularity. Koh Lanta Watersports offers Kite Boarding in the season from April through until October or November. From December to March wind is variable so it is the luck of the conditions at the time you are on Kohlanta Island.
